Bongani's Biography

Bongani Masela aspires to create groundbreaking platform(s) and to be the founder of a ‘Unicorn’ startup. A young founder of a tech startup that helps SMEs in South Africa deserves exposure and opportunities for funding because it can help to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and provide access to new technologies and services. Additionally, it can help to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas, and provide access to new markets and customers. By providing access to capital and resources, it can help to create a more equitable and prosperous society.

Pluto Africa, his networking platform, inspired his love for tech, the more he started working on it the more he fell in-love with the process – so much so he decided to go back to school and study Software Engineering just to better understand the craft.

This obsession to learn more lead him into enrolling and graduating from programmes while studying like the Google Hustle Academy, The African Union Development Agency Digital Solutions Programme, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Student Entrepreneurs, Global Jury Certification at the Wadhwani NEN Ignite Program and the list goes on.

His highlights includes:

A few months ago, he was invited to Lusaka, Zambia as one of the top 10 startups in Africa at the African Union Private Sector Forum and we were were dubbed as ‘Unicorns’.

And currently, he have been nominated as the ‘Ecosystem Hero of the Year 2023’ at the Global Startup Awards. The Global Startup Awards is the largest independent startup ecosystem competition in the world covering 120 countries spread across 12 independent regions.
